Summer School

What are you doing during the summer?  Do you need to catch up, or do you want to get ahead?  Summer school might be in your future.

Summer school is for students who have failed a necessary core course and would like to redeem their grade. It provides a traditional class and is the best option for athletes and people who genuinely did not understand class content. Summer school is June 1 – June 28, 8:00 – 2:35. You can check out the prices on the Bob Jones website.

Summer school can also be for students who want to get ahead. Some available classes to take during the summer to get ahead would be Drivers Ed, Health, Career Prep A and B, Economics, and Government. Some are in a traditional classroom, and some are offered only online. Andrew Cathey, a Bob Jones student who took Drivers Ed during the summer said,  “It was easier than a during the school year class and only took two weeks. I think it was a good idea to take that class; I do not regret it.”

Credit recovery is for students who have failed a class and wish to have the opportunity to recover the lost credit through computer-based instruction targeting. Brandy Panagos, the credit recovery facilitator said, “Kids can finish the course at their own pace, but they only receive a 70 on their transcript.”  Three different sessions available: June 1-12, 15-26, and June 29-July 10. Mrs. Panagos recommends registering for the first session because the other two sessions don’t always “make.” Students can register for either morning or afternoon sessions.
