Elena Tonra is the singer and songwriter for the band Daughter. She is originally from North London, UK. The band Daughter signed on to a record company in 2012 with 4AD and in August a new track entitled ‘Smother’ appeared online. A 7” single of the song was released on October 1st and included a new version of the song ‘Run’, which came out on her first album.
After releasing a 4-track demo EP, Elena Joined up with Igor Haefeli to produce ‘His Young Heart EP’ in April 2011. Tonra and Haefeli are boyfriend and girlfriend.
In November 2011 with the new band member Remi Aguilella on the drums, the second album ‘The Wild Youth-EP’ was released by Communion Records.
Daughter has released two albums ‘His Young Heart’ and ‘The Wild Youth-EP’. There is definitely a difference in detail in these two albums. In ‘The Wild Youth-EP’ there was an increased attention to detail and keyboard layers with haunting atmospherics.

The breakout tour of Daughter is now traveling around the U.S. in select states:
Minneapolis, MN at 7th Street Entry: Wednesday 24 October
Chicago, Illinois Schubas Tavern: Thursday 25 October.
Seattle, WA at Barboza : Saturday 27 October.
Daughter is also going on tour in the U.K. The tour is set to kick up in January 2013.
