Nintendo has recently announced that there will be an upcoming Mario Kart app. This app will likely be available for iOS and Android. It will be released anytime between April 2018 and March 2019. The early announcement date means there must be a lot in store for us. The name of the spin-off is Mario Kart Tour. Not much is known about what the app will be like, but that has not gotten rid of the hype. Mario Kart Tour likely will be free to download but have optional things for sale.

Most students have played a Mario Kart game before and thoroughly enjoyed it. “I’m really excited for the app, and I’m glad Nintendo is bringing their beloved franchises to mobile devices,” said Zach Johnson, a junior at Bob Jones. However, he does have some concerns about it. “I’m afraid for the microtransactions.” Katie Eggenberger, a senior at Bob Jones said that she has played Mario Kart games before, but isn’t a big fan. She may download the app just to try it out and see if she likes it. Others have said that they enjoyed playing the game growing up and are looking forward to the app’s release.

We also know that a Legend of Zelda app will be coming in the far future. Nintendo has definitely taken note of the success they had with Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. More competition on the app store is always welcome, it may eventually lead to us getting fewer Candy Crush copycats.

There are lots more involving Mario to look forward to. Nintendo is currently building a Super Nintendo World in Japan that should open before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Mario will be starring in a future Super Mario Bros animated movie. Illumination Entertainment, the studio known for Minions and Ice Age, is going to work on the movie.
