Get ready, Madison!  There’s a new Cajun restaurant coming to town! Beignet Cafe is a New Orleans-inspired sit-down eatery opening on Hughes Road.  It is in the very building that once held Gigi’s Cupcakes and Hot Chicken Kitchen.  Both of those businesses did not last at this location. But with the success of its first location in Huntsville, Beignet Cafe in Madison is sure to be there for the long haul.

A beignet (benˈyā) is a French dessert made of fried dough and topped with powdered sugar.  It’s essentially a donut without the icing that has been popularized in Cajun cuisine.  They even serve gluten free, and chocolate covered strawberry beignets!

While beignets are their staple dish, that is not all they offer.  Beignet Café has had a multitude of Cajun-influenced items and, most importantly, all-day breakfast!  They’ve got about 20 different biscuit combinations and 5 ways to serve grits!

Harold Gilmore, a senior, said, “I’m excited to try some new food!”

Make your way in down to Beignet Café’s new location and “laissez le bon temps rouler!”
