The Super Bowl Halftime Show, Was It Any Good?

 No one can deny that this year’s Super Bowl halftime show received a lot of hype. Older hip hop fans received nostalgic performances from some of the most iconic artists of all time. Fan favorites such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Eminem, and Mary J. Bilge and Kendrick Lamar were chosen to perform. These 5 people got a lot of excitement from fans around the US, 50 Cent made a surprise appearance with his song “In Da Club.”  All of these artists gave great insight into hip hop’s iconic past. The biggest con of this yea’s halftime show was it gravitated more towards older people who experienced this era of hip hop. 

The author’s mom stated, “It was a really good halftime show, and it was fun seeing Snoop Dog do his crip walk. I was just surprised when they brought 50 Cent, I wasn’t expecting to see him.”

The performances of the artists were very well received by fans, with videos being posted from younger generations of their parents and siblings jamming out and dancing to the performances. The initial reactions to the trailer were spectacular, and some were even saying they were more excited for the show than the actual game. With younger generations wishing there was the appearance of more modern day hip hop artists, this years halftime show allowed us to see where our favorite artists today got their inspiration from.

In the comments of “The Call” Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show OFFICIAL TRAILER, Addy Gray said, “This early 2000s vibe is going to make this one of the most iconic Halftime shows. It’s definitely a genre we haven’t seen in the Super Bowl for a while.”

The genre of hip hop has come a long way, and this halftime show allows us younger kids the opportunity to see what used to be popular and where it all came from. Dr. Dre himself even made some statements, saying, “We’re going to do it so big that they can’t deny us anymore in the future.” Even with the artists performing more nostalgic songs, the viewers of today’s generation were also very excited and happy with this year’s show. 

11th grader Austin Schomer was very surprised after finding out this year’s line up. “As a big hip hop fan, I was excited and shocked when it was announced.” He continued on to say it was even “…it is my favorite of the Super Bowl Halftime Shows I have ever seen.”

 With some wishing that more artists from this era of hip hop, and even with some modern day hip hop artists whose names are known everywhere. For the most part, most kids involved in surveys that dealt with this topic were very happy and loved this year’s halftime show, and showed us where the music we love came from. These artists gave out the inspiration the music industry needed, and helped people all over the world rediscover the roots of hip hop.
