Halloween candy can be any kind of sweet—chocolate, hard candy, lollipops—anything at all. But what is the best kind?
Everyone has their own preference, and so do I. My favorite is Tootsie Caramel Apple Pops. They’re green apple–flavored lollipops covered in caramel, and I’m obsessed with them. But what about other candies? What do other people like most? In this article, I’ll talk about which Halloween candies people like the most.
What the People Think
Chocolate is an OG when it comes to candy, and a lot of people have it as their favorite type. In a survey, 51.7% of people chose chocolate out of five options. Popular all-chocolate brands that came to mind were M&Ms and Hershey’s.
There were also 10.3% of people who said they most enjoy peanut butter candies like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. There are plenty of other candies that mix chocolate and peanuts, like Snickers. Other favorites include Twix and Kit Kats, both of which have a chocolate coating over a wafer. Twix is a little different because it adds caramel, making it uniquely delicious. As you can see, there are lots of really good chocolate and peanut-based candies that make for great Halloween treats.
There are also plenty of hard candy brands that make great treats. We’ve got Jolly Ranchers, Ring Pops, and all kinds of lollipops. Candies made mostly of sugar come in a wide range of textures. Some other kinds include AirHeads, Skittles, and Starbursts—and don’t forget gummy candies like gummy bears.
In the same survey, 10.3% of people said they enjoy hard candies, and 20.7% said they prefer gummies. Even though sugar candies ranked lower than chocolate in popularity, all candies are good in their own way. And in the survey, 6.9% of people chose “other,” so there are definitely some less common favorites out there too.
Happy Halloween! 🎃
Now please—don’t hand out raisins, weird plastic eyeballs, or those random vampire teeth (seriously, who knows where those have been?). Instead, be the cool house on the block with the full-sized candy bars!
Don’t forget to check your candy, stay safe while trick-or-treating, and most importantly—have fun! 🍬
