The local chapter of the Optimist Club is sponsoring a 700-800 word essay contest on the theme “How Can I Help My Friends Realize Their Value?”  Interested students must be 18 or younger in order to be eligible for prize money.

This contest is an essay contest and should not be confused with a creative writing contest.  Students may cite sources within their essays, but they must refrain from making specific references to Madison and specific people within Madison.

Last year, Bob Jones students Alyx Chandler, Kristen Hop, Summer Dawkins, and Kenny Helms earned between $300 and $100 after attending the awards banquet.

Students can obtain an entry form and formatting requirements from Mrs. Panagos in S215.  Essays and entry forms should be turned by Feb. 7.
