Alabama has something to hang up on the fridge and be proud of.
The state of Alabama has released its state report card for the 2017-2018 school year, and Madison City Schools received an overall ‘A’. The scores are based on the ACT Aspire test scores, school attendance rates, graduation rates, and proficiency rates. Madison City Schools was one of only fifteen districts in the state to receive an ‘A’ overall. This is also the second straight year that Madison City has received an ‘A’ in all eleven of its schools, being one of six districts to do so. Superintendent Robbie Parker was proud with the grade the district received, but he feels that a letter grade doesn’t show what happens everyday in the schools. He had this to say about it in a recent email to the community: “You all know I like to brag when it comes to talking about our kids and all A’s are outstanding, but a letter grade does little to show what occurs in our schools each day. A school system is comprised of many parts so the credit goes to students, teachers, administration, instructional team members, parents and all the support services that create such a positive environment.”
Along with the individual school scores, Sylvia Lambert, principal of Bob Jones, had this to say about Bob Jones’ score in a newsletter to the community: “I am proud of this report; however, we have areas in which we are planning to grow & improve to better equip all of our students to be college and career ready.”
Everyone in the district is proud of the scores Madison City continues to receive and the talent constantly shown throughout the accomplishments of the district.
