Attention all blood types, this January is recognized as National Blood Donor Month and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers need your help to donate blood for those in need! Only 10% of blood donors donate blood each year, however, victims from serious injuries may need up to a hundred pints of blood. Hospitals are relying on donors to step forward and help patients by donating a single pint.

According to an article by The Madison Record, “LifeSouth’s bloodmobiles will visit numerous locations in January. LifeSouth’s address in Madison is 8190 Madison Blvd. Hours for LifeSouth in Madison are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to noon. Hours for LifeSouth’s donor center at Huntsville Hospital, 101 Silvey Road are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.”

All donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16-years-old with parental permission, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and have good health. A photo ID is required. Donate blood, Bob Jones!
