The Bob Jones Wrestling Team has placed in the Top 10 in the state for the past 11 years. Individually, wrestlers have won 4 State titles, 33 section championships, and had 5 All-Americans (Two Academic All Americans). The team has won over 20 Tournament Championships, including three AHSAA Section Championships.

Even all of this achievement, wrestling is still the underdog of sports, pushed away from attention by bigger sports like football and basketball. It is one of the oldest sports known to man, yet still receives little attention at places like school, where the sport is prevalent.

“I think wrestling could use a lot more attention,” said Bob Jones wrestler, Marshall Hildreth. “A lot of people just don’t know enough about it. They hear things and don’t really know what’s true and what isn’t. There’s a lot more to the sport than most people think.”

Wrestling is one of the toughest sports out there, if not the toughest. Next time you hear about an upcoming match, try to attend it if you can. Who knows, you might really enjoy it!
