Many churches and communities hold food drives during the holiday. They gather and collect food items to distribute to those who need the extra help during this Thanksgiving Holiday. However, Bob Jones High School took another approach.
On November 21st the third annual Madison free Community Wide Thanksgiving Dinner will be held at Bob Jones High School in the cafeteria.
Though the school itself has done this in the past, this will be the first time the culinary class will be participating. “The class studies in the mass production of food,” Mrs. Bone, the culinary teacher explained.
What a way to study! The class will have to prepare and make cake for close to 300 people. Mrs. Bone plans for this to be the start of a new tradition for the culinary class.
And, it’s not only the culinary class that is making an effort. The teachers are doing their part, too. Within just 15 minutes of an email being sent out asking for donations, teachers and staff were sending back replies promising a donation towards food.
How can you help? Help spread the word. The dinner is for any Madison resident, family or individual, who is spending this Thanksgiving alone or in need. Reservations can be made at this number 256-325-5193.
Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for all that we have, and this Thanksgiving, Bob Jones is doing its part to help the community.
