It’s that time of year when Bob Jones Theatre students eagerly anticipate the announcement of the biennial spring musical. The 2026 production holds special significance as the last production of longtime Director Mary Davis, who will be retiring after the 25-26 school year. Bob Jones is certainly going out with a bang. This production will be the largest scale ever produced at the school: 42nd Street.
Most students probably aren’t familiar with 42nd Street. It is based on the 1933 musical film of the same name and was produced on Broadway in 1981, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical. It follows the story of producing the fictional “Pretty Lady” on Broadway. It is truly a love letter to Broadway and will be a spectacle to watch.
42nd Street is known for its multitude of tap numbers like “We’re In The Money”, “Go Into Your Dance”, and “42nd Street”. Bob Jones Theatre is hosting a tap class weekly over the summer to help students prepare for the show. Nolen Gunner, the choreographer, will teach. Those interested in more information can contact Mrs. Davis at [email protected].
Auditions will be at the beginning of next school year and are open to ALL Bob Jones Students.
Mark Your Calendars! 42nd Street will have eight public performances April 16-25, 2026.
