The Super Bowl has something for everyone.
This year’s Super Bowl, Super Bowl 47, showcases the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The coaches of these two teams Jim and John Harbaugh are brothers, and this is the first time in in history of the four major sports to have siblings facing each other in a championship game. Another headline for this game is that this is Ray Lewis’s last game, and he is a likely hall of fame inductee after a decorated career.
Some people watch the Super Bowl for the commercials. Rashaan Denton, a junior, is one of those people. “That’s the only reason I watch it.” The commercials are estimated to cost between 3.7 and 3.8 million dollars.
Alicia Keys is singing the national anthem. Beyoncé Knowles is gracing America with the halftime performance. Ingrid Hickey, a junior, stated, “I wish it was Destiny’s Child because I really wanted to hear “Bills, Bills, Bills.”
Most people celebrate the game by inviting people over to watch it and eat hot wings and dip. “I’m excited for the party, if not the actual football game,” said Kaitlin Fiscus.
Regardless of why you watch the Super Bowl, it brings everyone together for a good time.
