Bob Jones vs James Clemens Breast Cancer Awareness Series!

Soon Bob Jones and James Clemens students will be putting their differences aside and coming together for a good cause. On April 17, BJ & JC Varsity/JV softball will take part in a Breast Cancer awareness series benefiting the Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Foundation.

Anticipation for this series is high among students and teachers alike. Not only will it be a great time to see exciting softball action from both schools and rekindling of a six-year rivalry, but it also will all be for a good cause!

The series will be supporting is the Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Foundation, founded by award-winning Tennessee valley journalist Liz Hurley herself. Hurley, a breast cancer survivor herself started the foundation in 1999 and has been hosting breast cancer awareness events ever since. An author, Hurley has also published multiple books detailing her battle with the disease. A true Champion for all survivors and those who still battle the terrible disease.

“Just to play for someone that fought or are fighting for their life is the most amazing thing ever!” Said Taylor Weddington, a Senior on Varsity softball. “We are going to treat this like any other game. Working hard together and putting in hard work, as always!”

Along with ticket sales, attendees will have an opportunity to purchase baked goods, T-Shirts, and other items, with all proceeds going to the Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Foundation. Specifically, three T-Shirts will be on sale. One BJ specific, one JC specific and addition to a neutral shirt for those who don’t have any rooting interest. All shirts are $15 and will be available at the JC softball concourse.

This year the series will be held April 17th at James Clemens High School. Varsity starting at 4:30, and JV playing immediately after. Make sure to come out and show your support!
