Cross Country Brings Home Trophies

Recently, the Bob Jones cross country team went to Pisgah to race in the 5k (3.1 miles) and the 2.1 mile. The varsity boys and girls raced in the 3.1 mile race while the junior varsity boys and girls raced in the 2.1 mile race. Conrado Jocson, a junior varsity XC runner, how he felt about the Pisgah course. “I felt confident. I think I went out a little too fast but I improved my time and that’s great.” Eric Joy, a junior varsity XC runner, added, “I didn’t really have a goal to beat somebody, and I just wanted to improve my time and run my best.”

Varsity boys got a first-place trophy with the places as following:

Ryan Bender 2nd,

James Garrison 3rd, 

Sam Pope 6th, 

Owen Crow 7th, 

Collin Spindle 9th,

 Wade Bucy 10th, 

Nick Lozano 14th, 

And Matthew Pimmel 18th. The top 20 in each division earned points for their team.

The Varsity girls got a second-place trophy with the places as following:

Lucy Halter 8th,

Molly Halter 11th,

Elise Baumgarter 13th, 

Elaine Bao 16th,

Mackenzie Edwards 17th,

Jackie Sullivan 20th.  

The junior varsity boys got a first-place trophy with the places as following:

Caleb Johnson 1st, 

Luke Allen 3rd, 

Jake Bryan 5th, 

Eric Joy 6th, 

Owen Lang 8th, 

Oscar Nichols 11th, 

Conrado Jocson 12th, 

Jacob Sigler 18th, 

Caleb Cooke 19th, 

Jacob Uchitel 21st.

The junior varsity girls got a second-place trophy with the places as following:

Ami Marks 1st, 

Charlotte Droege 8th, 

Rachael Pennel 9th, 

Ilene Pour-Bizar 11th, 

and Sarah Pennel 16th. The athletes did a great job overall at the race!
