Though the Varsity team came up short against Austin High School this past Friday, the Bob Jones football team had a massive win, 56-0, absolutely destroying the Grissom Tigers for Homecoming. The freshman team also beat the Grissom Tigers, 46-6, and JV finished up their last game with 56-12, another big win. With Prattville (6-3 overall record) and Hewitt-Trussville (8-2 overall record), our Bob Jones football team (5-4 overall record) will have their work cut out for them.

Wide Receiver Coach Seth Parker gave a statement: “Everyone believes that football season begins in August, but it really begins in January. All 3 teams have really put in a ton of work since January and it has certainly paid off this fall. As coaches, we couldn’t be more proud of the work the players have put in and how it has translated to our program’s success this season.”

This Varisty team has some incredible athletes:

Rayshawn Hardy: Star Junior QB who in just week 7 got 263 rushing yards, 3 rushing touchdowns, 8 carries, 15 passing yards, and 1 passing touchdown. In the total season, Ray Hardy has accounted for over 1000 yards in both rushing and passing categories.
Kelly “KJ” Fields: Junior WR in week 8 accounted for 4 catches, 81 yards, and a score in Bob Jones’ win over Grissom.
Terrance Salter: Senior RB in Bob Jones’ Week 7 Win over Albertville combined for 13 touches, 241 yards, and 4 scores. He averaged 17.5 yards per carry.
DJ Davenport: Senior DB with 6 solo tackles and 3 Pass Breakups in their Week 8 win.
Cosey Scarebrook: Senior DB with 10 tackles, 8 solos, 2 assists, 1 tackle for loss, and 1 PBU in the team’s huge week 6 win over Sparkman. Cosey is also a three-year starter and High Jump State Finalist with an offer at Army.

The JV team also has star players. Recently, Tyren Washington, a sophomore RB, scored 4 touchdowns in the first half. Dylan Atakoussak, a junior first year DB/LB, caught the JV teams first interception of the year during their last game on Monday. Junior RB Ethan Aquino added, “I think our team overall did good this season, we can fix some things this off-season and come back harder next year” about the JV team. The JV players finished up their season 3-3, having brought 2 home wins against Florence 20-14, Buckhorn 20-9, and an away win against Grissom 56-12.

Coach Allen of the Freshman Football team said, “We wrapped up our season this past Monday with a big 46-6 win over Grissom. That brought our record to 7-1 on the season. Quarterback Johnny Jackson led the offense with 15 total touchdowns (9 passing and 6 rushing) in just 8 total games, and T.J. Sanders led the defense in total tackles. I’m really proud of this team and the work that they put into the season. It’s a really talented bunch, and I’m excited to see how they progress and what they are able to accomplish as they continue on in our football program. The future of Bob Jones football is bright, with the staff that we have in place and the talent that we have coming in.” The Freshman team’s only loss came on a late 4th quarter Pick 6 against the Florence Falcons, which they lost that game 6-0. The freshman team finished with wins over Buckhorn, Grissom, Sparkman, Athens, Cullman, James Clemens, and Huntsville.
