Swim & Dive Do Great at State

Gabriel Garcia, Contributor

Our Bob Jones Swim & Dive team consisting of 9-12th graders competed at state recently at Auburn, and due to their hard work and practice, both boys’ and girls’ teams finished runner-up at the State Championship & team members won Individual/Relay events in the State Championship.

Coach Thaxton expressed how proud he is of the boys’ team for all their work and sacrifice.  “They have worked hard, and I am glad they have been rewarded for their hard work. This team has an amazing bond with each other, and [members] are always feeding off each other’s energy and picking each other up when things sometimes don’t go our way. At State, this was very much an important part to our success. I am so thankful for our seniors in their leadership and sacrifice in this season and seasons before.”

3rd Place-Michael Tretyakov: 50 Free

A big congratulations to Michael Tretyakov for winning the State title in the 100 Free.

The girls’ team also did an amazing job finishing the best since the 2007 State Championship team, not only that but also breaking records such as the 200 Medley Relay, and 400 Free Relay along with some Individual team records by Samantha Chan in the 100 Fly and 200 IM. Coach Thaxton showed how proud he is of the team. “The Girls’ team did a great job. A very young team with only one senior qualifying for state, the foundation is set for a Championship run next year. This group worked hard and fought through adversity to get a very exciting and gratifying result. I am excited and proud of these ladies’ hard work and sacrifice this season. The best is yet to come and the team is hungry for more.”
