On 25 April 2025, Bob Jones AFJROTC Blue Knights faced off against the James Clemens AJROTC Jets Battalion in an annual battle of speed, endurance, and strength. The day started with both teams forming up for team pictures, which ended up being followed by rain, forcing both teams to start with an indoor activity, dodgeball.
James Clemens won dodgeball, and the rain stopped, allowing both teams to head back outside for the next event, that being the 4×1 relays. Each team had 4 runners to complete a lap as fast as possible. This was followed by the 4×4 relay, where 4 cadets from each team ran a lap to complete a mile as quickly as possible. Then, they moved on to the 100-meter dash, in which cadets raced against each other for the lowest time.
Cadets then moved on to the obstacle course. 4 cadets would start with a 300-meter race while carrying 2 35 lb jugs of water, followed by a tunnel crawl, over/under hurdles, step hurdles, footwork ladder, and tires. This was followed by a challenge where cadets had to carry various weighted objects 20 meters, and then drag 3 football dummies to the endzone. Finally, they pick up a large log using a set of ropes to move it back 20 meters, before sprinting to the endzone.
Cadets were provided lunch, which consisted of freshly grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, various foods given by cadets, and snow cones. They then moved on to the group and single cadet Murph relay. The 10-cadet group relay consisted of 2 laps around the big gym, a total of 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, and 300 squats, followed by 2 more laps around the big gym. The single cadet relay consisted of 2 laps, 10 pull-ups, 50 push-ups, and 75 squats, ending with 2 more laps.
In the end, the Blue Knights took home the win for the 3rd year in a row. RCR 2025 was great, and it showcased how dedicated and motivated both units are. All of the cadets attending had a great time, and the atmosphere was truly amazing. RCR Committee Head, and Wing Advisor C/Gyan Bhagat had this to say about the event, “Rocket City Rivalry is a great experience for all cadets, whether participating in events or just helping out. It gives cadets the ability to show off their athletic and mental abilities by working together in teams to outperform the rival school (JC). We, the “Blue Knights”, have won 3 years in a row, with this year dusting JC in the events. Overall, it is just a great event as all cadets enjoy taking part in it.”
