I know… two XC meets have elapsed, and I am just now writing another article! However, as fall break has given me a breath of fresh air, I sit down now to recap the last couple of races.
We runners have been increasing the intensity of our workouts and the mileage of our easy runs in preparation for sectionals. Speaking of which, competition continues to tighten as more runners hit the sub-19 benchmark, but I’ll get to those athletes in a moment.
The first meet to review is “Twilight at PR’ville,” hosted at John Hunt Park. There, we ran late at night, our path illuminated by moonlight and glow sticks.
For this article, because there are two meets and so many runners, I have decided to post only the PRs (personal records):

Some notable times are Hughes’s 18:30, which is a huge PR and qualifies him for the state team, and Schultz’s 19:07, which makes him a potential contender. Shout-out to the Varsity Boy’s team for placing first in the Open, the Varsity Girls for placing second, and the JV Girls for placing second.
That race was one of my personal favorites. The weather was perfect, the course was great, and nothing beats running under the stars.
Following that race, our team ran at the Jesse Owens Classic. This took place at the state course in Oakville. Several runners were gone for fall break, but many of the athletes who did run were rewarded with PRs.

This upcoming week, we cheer on the JV runners as they prepare to run in the JV Gold Championship, also at John Hunt Park. There, our JV team will be running a new route our team has never run before.
There are now only two meets before sectionals, which I hear will be hosted at John Hunt Park this year, and we expect to come fresh out of fall break ready for both the Varsity Boys and Girls teams to go to state.
