Coming around the corner, the Patriots are gearing up for their 2025–2026 season. The first home game is against Huntville on Thursday, November 6 at 7:30. Last year, the team finished with a 20–11 overall record and went 3–4 in their region, falling just short after a tough loss to the Florence Falcons to end their season. This year, however, the Patriots are determined to work harder than ever and play like the best. Last week, we talked with some of the players and coaches to get an inside look at what this season might hold.
First, we spoke with sophomore point guard Ty Pace, who transferred from Sparkman High School. Ty was an outstanding freshman last season, making a big impact for the Senators. He shared that he’s excited to build new bonds with his teammates and is looking forward to a fun and competitive season.
Next, we caught up with senior guard Harrison Lockett. Harrison promised Patriots fans that, even after losing a meaningful senior class, they can expect “a young, dedicated, ambitious team ready to play hard and bring high energy.” His main goal this season is to help the team maintain a winning record—and, hopefully, make it to Birmingham.
Lastly, we talked with Coach Tyler Malone, who is entering his first year with the Patriots. Coach Malone said he’s eager to see how the team grows together and competes this season. He praised the team’s depth, saying they have “scorers scattered all over the court,” giving them an advantage against most opponents. His primary goal is to win the area, which means taking on tough competitors like the Austin Black Bears, James Clemens Jets, and Florence Falcons. Ultimately, Coach Malone hopes to lead the team to state, confident in the talent and potential of this year’s squad.
Overall, as the season approaches, the Patriots have high hopes and strong motivation. They’re focused, determined, and ready to make this a season to remember—and hopefully, Patriot fans feel the same way.
