The stargazers in the Bob Jones Astronomy Club might not be as smitten with the stars as this man is, but their love of space and exploration brings them together every Tuesday morning to discuss newly discovered nebulas and the progress of the Mars exploration – among other things.

“I joined the club because I love the stars,” said Maegan Baldwin. “I like being outside and staring out at the stars and the moon. And it’s fun being around people who also love it.”

The club is run by Mr. Frederick, a science teacher at the school. Members convene in his classroom to plan stargazing parties and debate on current astronomical topics, discoveries, and controversies.

“In the future, I hope that we can organize some great star parties and just increase the size of the club as a whole,” said Cassie Russell, another avid space fan that joined the club out of sheer interest.

The Astronomy Club meets every Tuesday  at 7:30 AM, before school. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
