Poetry Out Loud

If you’re interested in participating in Poetry Out Loud this year, you can participate even if you don’t have English this semester or if you’re in an English class that isn’t having a classroom competition.

Mrs. Hadden welcomes all interested students.

With defending state titles in both original poetry and in anthology recitation, Bob Jones students have their work cut out for them.  Last year, Khadijah Thompson won state and competed nationally in Washington, D.C. in anthology recitation.  Mary Butgereit won original poetry.

If you’re interested, see Mrs. Hadden in S105 for the school-wide guidelines.  You can also check out the Poetry Out Loud website to find poems for the anthology recitation.

The school competition is September 30 in the A.V. room.  The English Honor Society awards cash prizes at the school level, but there are more prizes to be won at district and state.
