Did you hear that sound? On the evening of October 13, 2015, Madison City Schools held the annual March on Madison where Bob Jones, James Clemens, Discovery, and Liberty bands presented musical masterpieces. Bob Jones competition band members performed a variety of pieces from their theme, “Bridging the Gap” where classical music and modern tunes collide. The competition band performed Eine Kliene Nachtmusick, Rhapsody in Blue, Bohemian Rhapsody, Adagio for Strings, and Chandelier. The football band performed Crazy in Love, Seven Nation Army, and Hey Ya. Bob Jones also got to collaborate with James Clemens High School playing Salute to America’s Finest. This year, our band was able to amaze the community through musical notes even though they did not have a lot of time for practice.

“I enjoyed hanging out with my band friends,” said junior Ben Meyer.

Many local supporters such as parents and friends came to witness this event cheering on their favorites throughout the night.

“It was difficult for the students to perform so many different shows with limited rehearsal time, but I thought they rose to the challenge quite well. I was very proud of the students and how they handled last week’s performances,” said Ms. Thomas, band director.

Color guard also participated with their flags and rifles. The girls did their best and showed us everything with 100% talent.

“Performing the full show for a crowd after months of preparation is the single most rewarding experience ever,” noted senior Jacquie Bloodsworth.

This year, our band and color guard was able to amaze the community through songs and dance. Audience members also had a fun night as they got to see friends. Congratulations to everyone who performed! If you didn’t get to experience the March on Madison this year, don’t forget to come out and see more performances in 2016.
