The Bob Jones chorus, under the direction of Mr. Fields, will perform excerpts from their upcoming concert at Carnegie Hall in the Bob Jones auditorium on February 18th at 7:00 p.m.  Admission is free.

The chorus will sing the following:

“Zion’s Walls” by Aaron Copland

“Ubi Caritas” by Dale Sakamoto

“O My Live’s Like a Red, Red Rose” by Rene Clausen

“Antiphon from Five Mystical Songs” by Ralph Vaughn Williams

“Adijo, Kerida, a Sephardic folksong” arranged by Joshua Jacobson

“Let Everything That Hath Breath” by Jeffrey Ames

The students who scored “Superior” at state solo and ensemble competition will also perform one of their solos.

The Bob Jones chorus qualified for the Festival at Carnegie Hall when they competed in Tennessee last year.  Students will be learning from Conductors Lynne Gackle and Rollo Dilworth.  Mrs. Smith, a parent of a chorus member, said, “Carnegie Hall is an amazing opportunity for any musician of any age.”

Grace Marinka, a senior, said, “I’m really excited to be going to Carnegie Hall.  I have never been to New York, so I’m excited to finally see the city.  We worked really hard last year at Nationals, and I’m really glad that something came of that.  I’m a little nervous about the trip, but not about the Carnegie Hall performance.  We have most of the music already memorized, and we still have two months to go before the trip…”

Mr. Fields added that performing at Carnegie Hall would be an amazing experience for the students and that he, too, was excited for the trip.

Chorus members look forward to the support of the student body and community at their upcoming concert.
