Getting Jolly and Holly in Huntsville

Cassi Fabby, Writer

This year in the Rocket City, there are several Christmas events that your whole family or friend group will be able to participate in and have a good time.

These include events such as the Galaxy of Lights, which is a light show that you can drive through and listen to Christmas music while enjoying the light sculptures. There is also hot chocolate to enhance your experience!

Another event in Huntsville this Christmas is the Tinsel Trail, which is located around Big Spring Park. Differently decorated Christmas trees light up the park, with decorations from toddler-themed trees to a Star Wars-themed tree. Also located in Big Spring Park is Skating in the Park, where an outdoor ice skating rink is opened right behind the Huntsville Museum of Art, and you can skate with your friends or family and enjoy hot chocolate and candy canes.

Santa’s Village is located in the Historic Huntsville Depot, open from 5:00 to 9:00pm until December 23rd. There, you can meet Santa Clause, decorate cookies, see live reindeer, and run through an ice maze!

In a survey given to the students of Bob Jones, 43% voted for Galaxy of Lights as their favorite Christmas event to attend in Huntsville. Every decorated light is funded by a company or a person, and some are even dedicated to lost loved ones. The next best event was Skating in the Park, which had about 16% of votes by the students.

The different activities to do during the most wonderful time of the year is plentiful here in Huntsville. Take your family, friends, or little siblings and go see which event is your favorite!
