On 27 March 2025, the Bob Jones AFJROTC attended the Association of the US Army (AUSA) Global Force Symposium. Attending cadets were able to speak to representatives from many local companies, as well as active and retired military members. Cadets were given about an hour to view the booths and displays from the companies.
After they enjoyed the interactive setups from all of the exhibitors, cadets were taken to the mess hall, where they were introduced to a panel of leaders by the discussion leader, Mr. Scott King. Cadets were able to ask questions to the panel, gaining insight into various fields and experiences. They were given a brief recess, where they were allowed to network with professionals, take pictures, and socialize with cadets from other units. Afterward, the over 400 cadets were served lunch, which included a salad, beef brisket, and a cake dessert.
Major General Gavin Lawrence was the keynote speaker and shared his thoughts on the importance of developing the next generation of leaders and how the US Army develops theirs. Finally, the cadets left the building, filled with a sense of enthusiasm towards leadership and JROTC as a whole.
Events like these are great for the unit, as they allow cadets to interact with other schools, professionals, and organizations they may be unfamiliar with. This allows them to gain a better understanding of leadership and perhaps a look into their future career. Overall, this event was amazing, with many opportunities for networking and education on leadership.
