The Boo at the Zoo Halloween party in Birmingham was packed before the gates even opened. Everyone dressed as anything they could think of from popular TV and film stars to the lesser known characters of society. And in the mix of the sea of people, four students, two from Bob Jones, two from James Clemens, met up with friends from around Alabama to play the lesser known characters from an online comic named Homestuck.
The comic, although not very popular, had 50 people attending in the group. The sea of characters in full and half costume would move together, eat together, and to add to the experience, act together. Each member of the group tried their best, no matter what the circumstances, to stay in character.
They started their journey at the zoo gate, where two of the leading members reenacted the Romeo and Juliet balcony scene. “It’s truly great to have so many members of the fandom attending in one place. I’ve never felt so close to home,” remarked Jimmy Boynton, a member of tech theatre as well as a member of the amine club.
“This meet up as made this weekend the best of my life, nothing could top this night,” shouted Jordan Ganaway, of James Clemens, as he left the event to return home. The rest of the attending members felt likewise.
