The 70th Golden Globes took place last Sunday, and movies like Argo, Les Misérables, and Silver Linings Playbook were honored. Les Misérables won three awards: Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical), Best Actor (Comedy or Musical) for Hugh Jackman’s performance, and Anne Hathaway won Best Supporting Actress. Other movies that won were Django Unchained, Zero Dark Thirty, and Life of Pi.
Louiza Frendi, a junior at Bob Jones, was very excited for Anne Hathaway’s win for Best Supporting Actress. Kayla Daigle, also a junior, thought differently – “I think Anne Hathaway is extremely overrated. Sally Fields should have won for her performance in Lincoln.”
Similarly, Bob Jones will be going to SETC this year for their one act The Perfect Ending. They also went last year for The Drowsy Professor. “Awards can be a big confidence builder for an actor or actress, especially with their cast. When Brandon Mallette won Best Actor at SETC last year, it was like the entire cast had won,” said Mary Butgereit, a junior who attended SETC last year. SETC this year will be held in Louisville, Kentucky from March 6th to March 10th.
