NerdCon and Masquerades!

Kafui Sakyi-Addo and Lilly Judd

Do you like comics, sci-fi, or fandoms? Well if the answer is yes, then you have to come to NerdCon! It is full of vendors that sell awesome merchandise that is great for everyone. It’s from the 23rd till the 25th (this Friday through Sunday) and it’s located at the Huntsville – Madison library!

Also on the 24th of October there will be a Masquerade Ball and the theme is cosplay. The time is from 8 until midnight and there will be contest for the best cosplay outfit! If you love to cosplay or you are just a fangirl of many different things this is the place to be.

I emailed Laura McPhail, the director of Public Relations (She is helping with NerdCon) about some of the events happening at NerdCon. She said “We will have gaming, movies, panel discussions, cosplay contest, adult coloring, and lots of kids’ activities, just to name a few. The full program is on the website. In addition to our wide variety of games and discussions, we will have three special guests attending: Lee Eric Shackelford, Jen Wang, and Simon Fraser.”

“We will also have vendors of stuff nerdy enthusiasts are sure to enjoy and we’ll have food trucks on site with a variety of cuisines offered. There will be an after party on Saturday at Yellowhammer Brewery featuring live music from The Mad Gear and Foot Pound Force. Plus, who can resist a good costume contest?

I asked her what the experience of people who went last year was, and she said “We had nothing but positive feedback from last year’s event. People had a great time and they had some truly inspired costumes. Many of the vendors are repeats from last year because they had such a good time as well. In fact, we had a table at the Rocket City Lit Fest two weekends ago and many people commented that they were looking forward to this year’s NerdCon based upon their fun experience there last year.”
