Gravity Falls
November 5, 2015
Gravity Falls, an American television show, has been astonishing viewers since its start on June 14, 2012. An animator, Alex Hirsch, created this sci-fi mixed fantasy show, and it has been gaining popularity.
This series of episodes involves the twin siblings Dipper and Mabel Pines (Voiced by Jason Ritter and Kristen Schaal.) These two twin siblings have to spend the summer at their great-uncle’s house in Gravity Falls, Oregon. Inside this mysterious town, Dipper and Mabel are thrown into weird supernatural situations that people don’t usually see everyday. Their great-uncle Stan, or as the twins call him, Grunkle Stan, owns a tourist attraction called The Mystery Shack where they work.
Soon into the first episode, Dipper uncovers a journal that contains some information on the many supernatural things going on inside the town. Both Dipper and his sister, Mabel, use the journal to discover these mysteries and to find out if this town is stranger then it seems.
Hirsch, the creator, based this funny adventurous series on his own life with his own twin sister during summer vacation. He thought that animation could be anything he wanted it to be and that it could be more entertaining then live-action. The hardest thing for him on creating the show was how he had to put the characters in the story. He had to work on the characters a lot, so he could add the feeling of suspense and so it allowed certain characters to have different personalities then others.
This television show, now going through its second season, has surprised me every episode I’ve watched, and has made me smile and laugh with the jokes and sarcasm tied up to it. The show is very foreshadowing and has that cryptic theme to it. My favorite part about this TV series is the audacious uniqueness to it. It contributes external and internal conflict adding on to the main part of the story line leading up to its climax.
If someone is into mystery, adventure, and a load of laughs, they would enjoy this television series immensely.
