The White Shirt Debacle
January 14, 2017
“I need Julie to put a jacket on, because we are all in white.”
These were the first words said by the news anchor of Australia’s 9 News. She was unaware of rolling cameras when she forced another journalist on air to put a jacket on. Amber Sherlock (Middle) was angry because all three women were wearing white. She told Julie Snook (Left) to put a jacket on 2 hours before this surprise filming. Snook is shown still not wearing a jacket and reiterating the fact that she didn’t have time to put one on. Sherlock progressed her fury by yelling at Jenny, a crew member, and other staff to help give Snook a jacket.
There was also a guest psychologist, Sandy Rae (Right), on the show who was cringing throughout this brutal attack. Sherlock became even more hostile as the video progressed and forced her to get a jacket from the control room.
Snook went on to say, “If it’s an issue, I’ll just jump on out,” and pointed out the fact that she was “wearing blue.” Although, in the video, it looks a lot like white. At the end of the video, Amber Sherlock got her way and Julie Snook ended up succumbing to the pressure of wearing a jacket.
“Live TV can be a pretty stressful beast, at times,” Sherlock told Nine Honey. “It’s never much fun rocking up to work or to a party in the same outfit as one of your colleagues or friends. I probably overreacted with the pressure of presenting a live news bulletin.”
