STEAM All Summer Long

Huntsville STEAM Works will be holding classes all summer long that are built for students and graduates alike to learn about science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and yes, art. The classes are from June through July at STEAM Works in Lowe Mill Arts and Entertainment. Youngsters can experience the cool wizardry and science behind the world of Harry Potter and graduates can learn about Python Programming through Minecraft.
Below are just a few of examples of the many opportunities provided by STEAM Works this summer:
AMT Armory $165
Students can design armor and weapons in this hands-on workshop class. As they work with high performance machines to create their masterpieces. Topics such as vector graphics, materials options, chainmaille design, and design principles will be discussed and analyzed through this immersive class.
Art and Science of Harry Potter $165
What couldn’t be better than Harry Potter but, a class learning about the art and science behind the world of Harry Potter? Students will explore and experiment with different potions as they make their own wands and discover the mechanics behind aspects of J.K. Rowling’s wizard world.
Camp Galileo $150
Designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Lunar Landing, STEAM hopes to teach kids about the science of the sky. They will learn about the stars through the history of the telescope. With the help of Project Night Sky, STEAM hopes to encourage children to think and discover more about the world of astronomy.
Create A Planet $150
Another class designed to celebrate the Lunar Landing will feature more of a look on science and art in the sky. Students will study exoplanets and biomes while using their new knowledge and creativity to create their own new planet.
Dungeons and Dragons $165
Not all classes are focused on the math and science of the world. Some focus on the fun strategy of classic games like Dungeon and Dragons. Students can use the online resources from “D&D Beyond” to help guide them and their unique characters on an excellent storytelling adventure.
Escape Room Madness $165
Students will learn what forces it really takes in planning an escape room. Students will work in groups to create their own decisive escape room using mathematical puzzles, riddles, props, and much more to challenge those trying to escape. At the end, student’s families can see if they can escape their students elaborate creations.
