Don’t Mind Us, Just Chicken’ In!

We all like eating out from time to time, and here in Madison, there is a variety of places to choose from. Most restaurants are really good and are worth a visit, especially if you’re eating out with friends (Maybe even a date 😳). These places are either independent and family-owned or part of a business chain. Each of these restaurants has its own specialty including but not limited to beef, Asian cuisines, Mexican cuisines, and chicken.

The chicken places in Madison populate the area. There’s Chick-Fil-A, Zaxby’s, Crickets, Popeyes, and one of the newest additions to our rocket city: Slim Chickens. Originating in 2003 Fayetteville, Arkansas, the chicken-based establishment has landed here. Trying to get a taste of what they like, yours truly has decided to investigate what their chicken is all about. The following are the results of my investigation.

I (along with some friends) entered the Slim Chickens on Zierdt Road and what I noticed is that it is state of the art. It is a very clean building. The building has clashing themes, though. There are futuristic tiles in the kitchen area, the floor of the eating area looks old-timey, and the ceiling and walls look industrial. The aesthetics of the building clash, but that doesn’t take away from the experience too much. You’ll probably either be too busy talking to friends or eating your food to notice.

Speaking of eating, you will probably do that very quickly. Customer service here is excellent. I ordered my food and got it near instantaneously, whether you see that as a good or bad thing is up to the consumer. That doesn’t take away from the fact that if you’re here to eat, you’ll do so quickly. The employees are very committed to what they do–they don’t look dead inside so unless they’re robots, they seem to be happy to be there.

The food there is pretty alright. I don’t have many negative things to say about it. Any negative was mostly just seasoning (i.e. the tenders were over seasoned and the fries were under seasoned.) The tenders were crispy and fresh, and it wasn’t too chewy or too hard to bite on. The crinkle fries were good–golden and delicious albeit under seasoned. As one of my friends stated, however, their strawberry milkshake could use some work. The best part about this was that the food was relatively cheap. My meal was $9.30.

If you’re looking for a quick stop to eat something high quality and cheap, and are near Zierdt Road, you should defiinitely pay a visit to this restaurant. There is also another location of Slim Chickens on Hwy 72 near the new Johnathan’s Restaurant. Brings some friends as well, the more the merrier! It’ll definitely be a worthwhile trip.
