Genshin Impact is an action-roleplaying game developed by a Chinese company called Hoyoverse, formerly called Mihoyo. The game was released on September 28th, 2020, and released on PC, Playstations 4 and 5, iOS, and Android devices and has been gaining traction since its launch. The game centers around a fictional land called Teyvat. The player lands in this immersive world and they travel the land looking for their lost sibling.

According to a survey, many people were aware of the game and are looking forward to what the game plans on offering next. Sophomore Faith Williams states that “the characters are gorgeous. As is the world. And I’m pretty fond of the lore too. There are drawbacks to this. In the same survey, people are not aware of the game and found things that are not very pleasant. Freshman Keira McCostlin stated that one of the drawbacks to the game is “the fandom involved with the game.” Senior Amy Athing mentions that the “people who play it talk about it all the time and it’s annoying.”

Another issue with the game are people leaking content from new updates. These updates happen within the game every six weeks. These leaks usually come from people who have access to the game’s files. According to Comicbook.com, the leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, as they are not indicative of what’s to come in the final release. The leaks are usually found on platforms like Twitter and Discord on private servers. The game also has an issue with a very toxic fanbase and toxic players and can be unwelcome to newer players, but it is only a small part of the fandom.

Despite these issues, the game continues to have a very active player base and fandom. The combat is fluid, and the characters’ designs are very pleasing to look at. Each character has its backstory, the design of characters is pleasing to the eye, and the lore is detailed and complex, but very interesting to look into. If you have the time, any of the devices stated above, and enjoy anime, then this game is for you! If not, that’s perfectly fine and okay, but give it a look if you’re interested!
