Cool the Summer Steam with Ice Cream (and Other Frozen Treats)
May 25, 2022
Summer break is here! What are some of the things you can start looking forward to? One thing is for sure. Ice cream! In Madison and Huntsville, there are so many places to go.
Some of the fan-favorite places that many kids at Bob Jones seem to like is Handel’s! Handel’s has been making homemade ice cream since 1945. Not only do they serve ice cream, but they also sell sorbets, sherbets, and ices. There are also vegan and fat-free/ no sugar options! Handel’s has more than 100 flavors to choose from. It’s on Hwy 72.
There are many other places that serve primarily ice cream, such as Sweet Charlies on Hwy 72, Brusters on County Line, The Yard, which is near the Trash Panda stadium, and Marble Slab at Bridgestreet.
Maybe you’re more in the mood for a milkshake. If you haven’t tried a milkshake at Oscar Moon’s Milkshake Bar at Stovehouse, you should check it out. They have signature milkshake flavors like Alabama Peach Pie, Campfire Shiver, and Blueberry Cheesecake. They also have floats and sundaes.
Not into ice cream? That’s ok. Other frozen treats are just as perfect in the summer. Ritas is known for its Italian ice! And not only do they have Italian ice, but they also have cream ice, frozen custard, and sugar-free Italian Ice.
Another wonderful place for a hot summer day is Suzy’s Pops! Unlike all these other places, Suzy’s Pops is specifically just popsicles, all with unique flavors! Not only do Suzy pops have delicious treats, but they’re also located in a very beautiful place called Lowe Mill in Huntsville.
One last place you could find a way to cool down is to hit up Tropical Sno! They are a very yummy snow cone truck. They’re usually located at 6275 University Drive.
Feeling fancy? Get some gelato at Sam and Greg’s Pizza, which is just down the road from the school. It’s a perfect place to meet up with friends, and now we will actually have time to do that.
Finally, there’s always fast food treats from Dairy Queen, Sonic, Freddy’s, Culvers, and the list goes on.
