Top 10 Christmas Songs

What songs are the best to listen to while putting up Christmas decorations? Patriot Pages surveyed students, and here are the results. 

1.

The most favorite Christmas song by Bob Jones is “Last Christmas” by Wham! In our poll, it was won by a landslide. “Last Christmas” was made in 1986. Despite it being so popular, it has never been #1 on the official charts, but this song did inspire the rom-com “Last Christmas.”

2.

The second most favorite Christmas song is “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” by Micheal Buble. This song was released in 2011. Micheal Buble was actually not the person to make this song in the first place; it was actually Perry Como and the Fontane Sisters.

#3 is the very well-known song by Mariah Carey “All I Want for Christmas is You.” This song is popular because it is part of a classic holiday song and on top of it part of the melody slyly references “White Christmas.” This was released back in 1994 and has been featured on most Christmas playlists since then.

At #4, the most favorite Christmas song is “Rockin Around the Christmas Tree.” This song was released in 1958. The artist who sang the song was only 13 years old. This year is the first year that “Rock’n Around the Christmas Tree” has ever hit #1 on the Billboards.

For #5, we have “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Andy William. This song was actually written in 1993 by Edward Pola and George Wyle. It was recorded and released that year by Andy for his first Christmas album.

#6 is “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” by Bruce Springsteen. This song was released in 1995, it’s such a fun and festive song. Bruce Springsteen’s energetic performance really brings the holiday spirit to life. The song has a catchy melody and the lyrics remind all the kids to be on their best behavior because Santa is on his way.

#7 is “Feliz Navidad.” Compared to most songs on this list, “Feliz Navidad” was released in 2014. But despite its late arrival, it has had just as much success as other songs on this list. To this day, “Feliz Navidad” has made $4,214,551 in royalties. One last fact about the artist, José Feliciano, he is permanently blind from birth due to congenital glaucoma.

On the 8th place on this list is “Holly Jolly Christmas” by Micheal Bublé, but it was also sung by Burl Ives in the 60’s. Even then, the song was composed and written by Johnny Marks. It has been on the Christmas and normal charts multiple times now.

#9 is “Here Comes Santa Claus” by Elvis Presley. Elvis’s smooth vocals and upbeat rhythm make this song so enjoyable to listen to. It’s a joyful and lively tune that captures the excitement and anticipation of Santa’s arrival. The lyrics paint a picture of Santa spreading cheer and happiness as he travels around the world. 

10.

For #10, the last one on the list is “Let It Snow” by Dean Martin. Dean Martin’s velvety voice brings a cozy and nostalgic feeling to the song. It’s all about embracing the beauty of a winter wonderland and enjoying the warmth of being with loved ones by the fire. The lyrics and melody just make you want to snuggle up with a cup of hot cocoa and watch the snowflakes fall outside.
