Bored in Madison and Huntsville? Want to spend your time anywhere else but home? Do you love music? Well, I know just the place for you!
The inaugural event “Southstar Music Festival” will be happening September 28-29 right in Huntsville, and you will NOT want to miss it. Big-name bands, good food, and loads of fun awaits. With this killer lineup, it will be a weekend to remember – so let’s dive into who we will see at this exciting event.
For all the 90’s kids who grew up listening to “No Scrubs” by the well-known TLC and “Just a Girl” by the one and only Gwen Stefani, allow your childhood dreams of finally seeing them in person! TLC will perform at 5:15 until 6:15, right after the rap group Juvenile and the 400 Degreez Band. Gwen Stefani will close up the night with her classic 90’s pop songs at 9:30 Saturday night, taking us back a couple decades until 11 PM.
If you grew up on what Gen-Z now calls “Divorced Dad Rock,” then you’ll love the lineup for the weekend as well. Be taken back to the days you rode in your dad’s old Ford truck with the windows down shouting “Far Behind” by Candlebox all the way to your swim team practice with the rest of Saturday’s outstanding lineup, including Jimmy Eat World, Shinedown, Candlebox, and Gin Blossoms, playing their most known songs we all know and love. The band known as Winona Fighter will also be playing at the festival, showcasing modern emo rock music and rocking the stage from 1:30 to 2:15. Dexter and The Moonrocks will be attending as well, bringing an indie-rock feel to Huntsville, playing 2:15 to 3:00, kicking us off for the night.
For Sunday’s performances, get ready for variety and a night to never forget. The early 2000’s emo-rock band Blink-182, the artists of “All the Small Things” and “I Miss You,” will be closing up the night, 9:30-11 PM, perfecting the weekend and setting us off to a great start for the next week. Right before they play, Sublime will rock the stage with their greatest hits from 7:15-8:15, handing the stage over to the artists of the song we all grew up on, “Iris” – the Goo Goo Dolls. They will be performing from 6:15 to 7:15. Other big-name artists that will take the stage Sunday night are Ludacris and Big Boi, bringing some rap into the night, while other artists such as Pete Yorn, Bully, and Billy Allen and The Pollies will start us off Sunday afternoon with their laid-back upbeat vibe.
