New and upcoming author Daria Snadowsky’s second novel The Anatomy of A Single Girl is nothing short of an average teenage girl fiction novel.
Filled with light humor, plenty of sarcasm, and some cheesy banter, it screams with the unoriginality that plagued other writers of young adult fiction.
The main character Dominique has just finished her first year of college after a huge break-up with her boyfriend which occurred that winter. Of course Dominique is perfect combination of, well, perfection. She has perfect grades, perfect looks, a perfect family, and two perfectly hot guys trying to get with her. The only thing that isn’t perfect, it seems, is her nicknames.
But with so much boy drama going on, why doesn’t she just stay single? Well, what girl actually wants to be single? Apparently, there’s no other way for a girl to survive unless she’s with a guy or drowning herself in work.
All in all, the book is written quite well and easy to follow along. However, the characters are unrelatable and bland, and the plot is predictable. It’s just another carbon copy of a teen romance novel.
