Movies that have made me cry while watching them for the first time:
–About A Boy
–Millions
–Submarine
Movies that made me cry and I’m STILL tearing up over:
–Her
I remember seeing the trailer for this on Gawker and being intrigued by the description. Ever since watching the trailer, I felt that I absolutely needed to see Her. I spent weeks just watching trailers over and over and listening to my favorite song off of the soundtrack. (The Moon Song-Karen O)
Her was not a disappointment; it was beautifully filmed. The technology that the world had in the movie was extremely cool as well.
Theodore Twombly is going through a divorce and is lonely. One day, he sees an ad for a new operating system that is designed to understand you and talk to you just like a real person. He purchases this and meets his new friend Samantha…the operating system. He starts to develop a relationship with her, somewhat like David Hasselhoff’s relationship with his car KITT in Knight Rider, until it takes a more romantic turn.
Not only is that some pretty cool technology, he also works for a company called “beautifulhandwrittenletters.com” where people send him emails with pictures of who they want a letter to and what the letter should consist of. He speaks to his computer (not Samantha) and the words just appear in various handwriting fonts on the screen. That was awesome. This movie is full of ideas for future inventors.
This movie had an A+ cast, soundtrack, time setting, just everything was A+.
I have never been a fan of Joaquin Phoenix, but he surprised me in this. Along with Joaquin Phoenix, the cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Rooney Mara, and Amy Adams.
I think the only thing I wish that I had not seen or heard while watching this movie was one part involving a phone call talking about a dead cat.
I recommend this movie to everyone. I would rate it 4.5/5 Ingrids. Please go see this. These people deserve all of your money for making the best film of the 2010’s.
