The Age of Adaline Review

Mikayla Jones and Sara Jones

Most every girl has at least heard of the successful TV series, Gossip Girl, starring Blake Lively. This show is just a glimpse of her talent and personality on screen. She has also been a star in the hit movies The Green Lantern and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

On April 24, 2015, The Age of Adaline came to theaters and Blake Lively, amongst Harrison Ford, Amanda Crew, Michiel Huisman, and Kathy Baker, showed true talent and emotion in the four and a half star drama, romance film. This film showed a whole different side of Blake Lively and allowed her to show how much of a well-rounded actress she is.

Adaline (Blake Lively) is a 29-year-old woman who has run away from her past ever since her accident that caused her to stop aging and it left everyone asking questions. When she meets Ellis (Michiel Huisman) who is determined not to give up on her she finds that running away this time is going to be almost impossible. Overall, this film is full of plot twists.

Not everyone is excited to see this film.  When we interviewed Audrey Harper about this movie, she said she hasn’t seen it yet but after watching the trailer she says she thinks it would be very generic. “I feel like this movie has been overdone and the representation of the characters is basic. Also, the fact she doesn’t age is a cop-out for a way to save money on actors. I think this movie is very similar to other movies and I don’t have any desire to see it.

The tried and true fans of love stories are excited.  Junior Ashley Romans said, “ I wanted to see it because I really like love stories and it was different than others and the fact she doesn’t age intrigued me.”  Brittany Nunez she had a positive review, too. “ I’ve always been a huge fan of Blake Lively, and when I saw the trailer for The Age of Adaline, I knew I had to see it but not only was Black Lively really good but all the other characters were, too. I also enjoyed the story line and I think most people would really like this movie.”

Of course, they’re will always be mixed reviews from fans, but we think The Age of Adaline offers a timeless love story that most fans will enjoy.
