Movie Review: Hotel Transylvania 2

Meaghan Tholstrup, Writer

This sequel gives viewers of all ages a run for their money. After Dracula opens his doors to the humans, things start to change for the better. Dracula puts his half human grandson through a “monster in training” boot camp, after he worries he isn’t showing his vampire side. But things get batty when Dracula’s old school father pays an unexpected visit. Of course these two have different parenting methods and clash on what they think is the right method. Old school or Modern Day…?

The critic reviews of this film, according to Rotten Tomatoes, New York Times, and Metacritic, say the movie was better than the first one and that it wouldn’t hurt to take your kids to see this family friendly film. This Sony Pictures Animation production written by Adam Sandler gives a hidden lesson of dealing with parents teaching their kids how to live their life. The film that released on September 25 brought in about $48.5M on it’s opening weekend.

I took the kids that I babysit to see this Halloween appropriate movie, and they absolutely adored it. I definitely recommend for all parents to take their kids to see this or even just to see it themselves. I believe people of all ages would enjoy this movie, involving the use of parenting skills and teaching kids to do the right thing. Channeling your inner child, you may find hard in Hotel Transylvania 2, but in the end it has no bite. If you want to learn more about this movie you can watch the trailer here.
