It’s that time of year again. That’s right, Halloween. With Halloween come the festivities like trick or treating, mazes, and haunted houses.
Haunted houses, one of the favorite pastimes of October, are a popular way to fit in some extra scares for the month. However, with so many different haunted houses to choose from, it can be overwhelming to pick just one.
One of the best haunted houses in Alabama is the Arx Mortis. It was voted one of the top ten haunted houses in 2010. Even the location has an eerie name, as it is set in Killen, Alabama.
The Arx Mortis has three main attractions: The Covington Clinic, Miner’s Hill, and Chaos, which is a more interactive part of the tour. Ticket prices vary based on the attraction. It is advised to get there early, as the lines are long.
Next on the list is close to home. It’s Huntsville’s very own Disturbia. Disturbia is described as a “mental disturbance” that will play with your mind as you go through the tour. While you wait, you can grab a snack at Dead Debbie’s. It is not recommended for kids or the faint of heart.
The last haunted house is a bit of a drive but definitely worth it. Known for being the largest haunted house in the southeast, The Atrox is a very popular attraction located in Leeds, Alabama. The Atrox is a unique haunted house and has celebrity guest there on many nights. There is a $5 cover fee on these nights, but it guarantees you a chance to meet with Hollywood horror film actors.
Aside from those three, there are plenty of other haunted attractions in Alabama, such as the Haunted House of Horror, Graystone Manor, and the famous X-Maze, be sure to grab a friend, head out to your pick of a haunted house, and prepare to get your adrenaline flowing.
