Want to feel your heart pound out of your chest and feel the rush of adrenaline? Then go visit The Haunted House of Horrors located in Historic Courtland in the old Courtland High School just a short drive from the City of Madison. This haunted house has 40,000 square feet of one the greatest freights that the North Alabama area has to offer.
This attraction has several rooms of various scary scenes. As you progress through the house, each room gets scarier and scarier as they take the haunted experience to higher levels. Every detail in the house is carefully planned. High quality props, animatronics and scenic elements are used. Animations jump out from every corner; theatrical lighting, strobes and black light reveal scenes filled with monsters, props, detailed walls and even moving floors.
Often haunted houses like this have lots of high quality props and sets, but it would be hard to mistake the sets as real. The abundance of creepy figures, special effects, loud noises, colorful lighting, lasers and strobes, and animations make this event amazingly cool and scary. The use of actors is a skillful distraction and is hidden with sudden reveals taken to a whole new scary level. In many places, realistically looking dummies and props allow actors to blend in completely with the sets. Many hours were clearly spent perfecting the craft of concealing the actors as they would jump out from nowhere and frighten the visitors.
Although this was my first visit of a haunted house this Halloween season I do recommend it as a haunted house to go see. It takes about 30-45 minutes to complete. At a cost of $20.00 and some gas money, it is worth the drive. Bring your patience along with you because on weekends the wait could be long. Go see if for yourself…if you dare!
