The Salvation Army just opened a new thrift store on Hughes road! As an avid thrifter, this is an exciting event because more thrift stores in an area insures more variety. This new thrift store has brought with it competitive prices and an organized, clean facility, that creates a good shopping environment.
“I felt that it is more organized than Asbury, and included more home décor,” said Kaylie Miller, a senior at Bob Jones. “Overall I liked it, and plan on going back.”
Mrs. Dauma, an English teacher at Bob Jones agrees, stating that it is well organized and that she was glad that they took the time to separate items according to the season. She also looks forward to future bargains.
Not only does this thrift store have good prices, but the money you spend is going directly back to the community.
“The immediate proceeds from the thrift store first, go to pay our expenses for running the store there in Madison…we offer our communities including, but not limited to, homeless shelter, daily community kitchen feeding program, mobile feeding program and social services offered to residents of Madison County and the homeless.” said Mark Satterlee, an officer for the Salvation army.
The program has had roots in our community for a long time, so shoppers can always trust quality items and know exactly where their money is going.
“We have long wanted to have a presence in Madison. We are eager for the public to understand that we are not The Salvation Army of Huntsville, but that we are The Salvation Army of Madison County. Because of Madison’s rapid growth over the last several years, Madison seemed the logical choice of location for our new store,” stated Satterlee.
With such an extensive selection of unique and intriguing items, it’s hard to beat a locally operated and convenient location. With an exemplary staff and clean facility (my only wish is that they would implement a dressing room), I give the Salvation Army thrift store a ten out of ten.
