Do you know a person who is a veteran? Has the thought ever crossed your mind that they risked their lives to give us freedom? Veteran’s Day is the perfect time to drop what you’re doing and to recognize them.
According to Dr. Finley, one of the vice principals, about 30 percent of students attending Bob Jones have a military connection. Some parents may be active duty; some might be serving overseas. Others might have a secondary connection. For example, many of the jobs on Redstone Arsenal and in Research Park involve defense projects.
On this Veteran’s Day holiday, if you know someone who has served, shake their hand and tell them thank you because their efforts go unnoticed all too often. While you’re playing Call of Duty, someone is on the other side of the world risking his or her life. You can at least take the time to recognize their efforts.
In addition to recognizing Veteran’s Day, participate in the care packages for soldiers project. See the front office for more information.
