The ancient Mayan calendar marks the end of the world on Friday December 21, 2012, but is it really the end of the world or just the end of the calendar? There are people all over the world that have been caught in the doomsday hysteria, and some people have gone to extreme measures to make sure they are prepared.
The television show Doomsday Preppers on the National Geographic channel shows families preparing for the day they think the world will end or when a nuclear war will occur. Some of these families keep an arsenal of weapons or a lifetime supply of food for their survival.
However, some people believe that the world will not end on December 21st, and all it is is just a hoax. This debate has even sparked a debate on religion. In regards to this debate, former Bob Jones’ student, Diamond Beavers said,”I heard that other parts of the Mayan calendar have been found, so it doesn’t make sense why people believe that the world will end.I believe people should read the Bible. They don’t believe what I believe.” “No man can know the date of the end of the world,” says Ken Binford, another former Bob Jones’ student.
In May 2012, newly discovered wall writings and calendars that go well beyond 2012 were found in Guatemala as reported by USA Today.
So will the end of the world be Friday? Who knows? I guess you have to wait and see.
