On October 5th, Neon Vibe hit the streets of Huntsville. Runners left neon powder and glow rain in their wake. These were the only traces the runners left. Neon Vibe is a 5K run/walk that raises funds for charities like the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Participants pay forty to fifty dollars for a packet that includes the Neon Vibe gear and a runner’s bib. All proceeds go to the charities.
What makes this run different from all the others? All the pretty colors, of course. The race shares this characteristic with its partner, The Color Run, which launched at the beginning of this year.
As Stephanie Stone stated, “I haven’t participated in many 5Ks. In fact, this was only my second one, but it was by far the best. The other 5Ks have to step it up. They have big shoes to fill. I loved the fact that it took place in the evening and that everyone had their creative outfits that glowed in the dark.”
While The Color Run occurs during the day, Neon Vibe happens once the sun sets. Neon Vibe is a run that specializes in getting members of all ages of the community to dress up in bright neon colors and paint while having a fun time running for a significant cause. The event also provided family fun with music and a party-like entertainment, including five glow stations that generously threw paint on passing runners.
The fun does not stop there. Once a runner completes the course, he is able to join the Aftervibe, a dance floor near the finish line where people throw extra color packets.
Ending the night drenched in color, Whitney Myers said the event was “the most fun I’ve had in a long time! A great time spent with old friends and new friends. Loved getting to throw the colored dust packets at them! This is definitely something that I would do again.”
If you missed it this time around, catch the run next year! You won’t be disappointed.
