Leonardo da Vinci, often described as the archetype of the Renaissance man, is considered the most diversely talented person to have ever lived. Da Vinci was a painter, sculptor, inventor, writer, mathematician, architect, and so much more. He is most known for his creations of The Mona Lisa, The Last Supper and The Vitruvian Man.
On November 2nd through March 2nd, the Space and Rocket Center will be home to a number of da Vinci’s works thanks to a new traveling exhibit appropriately titled Da Vinci: The Genius. Here, people will be able to enjoy interactive, large-scale inventions, an audio tour, copious amounts of Leonardo’s work in 3D animation, and other fun activities. Da Vinci: The Genius is a once in a lifetime opportunity for all ages.
Five Bob Jones students were selected to present Leonardo da Vinci’s work at the grand opening of the exhibit. Mary Butgereit, a senior who was chosen to present, was elated to have the opportunity. “The da Vinci exhibit was a great experience. A lot of the inventions showcased were hands-on, so you could see how they would have actually worked. I didn’t realize just how much da Vinci impacted our day-to-day technology. He seriously did just about everything!”
Mrs. Lakso, an art teacher at Bob Jones and sponsor for the exhibit, said, “Everybody should definitely go. They got da Vinci’s original drawings and they built what he drew with the materials he would have had in the 1400s. It took the creators nine years to finish the exhibit. It’s really an incredible event and won’t disappoint.”
Da Vinci: The Genius is an exciting opportunity to see and experience da Vinci’s work without flying to Europe. It’s interactive, informational, and fun for people of all ages, so don’t miss out! Go see the exhibit today!
