Google Inc. introduced the newest version of its Android smartphone software last Thursday. The update allows users to access numerous online services.
So what is this “sweet twist” you might ask?
The update is dubbed Android KitKat. The software is optimized for use on inexpensive, low-end smartphones, as well as several advanced devices, stated Sundar Pichai, the Senior Vice President of Android, Chrome, and Apps, during a recent press event in San Francisco.
Google’s Android software operates 80 percent of the world’s smartphones, say Google industry analysts.
BGC Partners analyst Colin Gillis, said, “You want your users to use your services, and KitKat will help foster that.”
Android KitKat is up against some serious competition.
According to inside Google analysts, the corporation has shown off a new feature that will allow smartphone users to find information by performing searches within the downloaded apps.
The Nexus 5 smartphone will be the first device to feature the KitKat software. The LG-built phone will be available in ten countries with no contract, priced at just $349 without a contract.
Donald Rizzardi, sophomore at Bob Jones High School, said, “I used to have an Android, and it worked pretty well. I think the new software will be beneficial and better for current Android users.”
If you are an Android user, you may want to consider downloading this software when it becomes available. Currently, Android KitKat is available on the Nexus 5 only, but it will soon be available on all Android smartphones.
