On February 19, the much-anticipated Bonnaroo lineup was announced, much to the excitement of music enthusiasts everywhere. This year’s lineup is a melting pot of talented artists with a broad range of genres and styles that will suit any music lover’s tastes.
Kanye West is headlining this year with his first performance at Bonnaroo since his notorious 2008 performance, where he arrived almost two hours late to play a set to his disgruntled fans. This sets high expectations for a punctual and entertaining performance by West in 2014.
The other two artists headlining this year will be Jack White and Elton John. The big names don’t stop there, also attending are artists like Vampire Weekend, Lionel Richie, The Avett Brothers, Arctic Monkeys, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Flaming Lips, Wiz Khalifa, Skrillex and others.
According to New Haven Register, this year’s Bonnaroo has been called one of the most diverse and talented sets to appear to date.
Many students, including Bob Jones senior Morgan Pennington, attended last year’s Bonnaroo. It included artists Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, ZZ Top, Grizzly Bear, Passion Pit, Local Natives, The Lumineers, Wu Tang Clan, Mat and Kim, Cat Power, Government Mule, and Weird Al.
“There are more bands that are in the now attending this year. Last year’s was awesome, but it had a lot of music from our parents’ generation,” said Morgan Pennington, when asked how she feels about this year’s lineup.
Students attending this year are excited for a four day musical experience. “I’m super stoked for Bonnaroo. It’s the four best days of summer, filled with great music and gnarly people,” said Senior Alyssa Worden about the upcoming event.
Still, some students feel that this year’s lineup is lacking in unique performances. “The headlines are good,” said senior Nathan Booth, “but the lineup is just not as strong as last year’s,” he continued.
To attend Bonnaroo, tickets are $284.50 plus applicable service fees, and there is no age requirement. Students interested in attending the four-day music festival from the June 12 – 15th can find additional information by clicking the link here.
